In most situations, when a child is reported missing, it triggers a long interview with law enforcement officials, as they collect a large amount of information about the child and your family situation. That process could easily take a half hour or more and can be extremely stressful. But Child Guardians removes most of that lost time by allowing you to prepare for such a disaster. It's kind of like buying insurance. You hope you never need to use it, but if a crisis occurs, you are really glad it's there!
PROFILE: When you set up your account or add a child to your family, you enter each child's profile into our secure, online database. The profile contains obvious physical characteristics, marks or features that would help someone recognize your child, and information about family situation and contacts. It's much of the information the police would ask in that interview, but you can answer the questions on your own time, when you aren't in panic mode.
LEAC: You create a Law Enforcement Access Code for your children. It's basically a password that you can give to law enforcement to give them access to your child's full profile, but only if you raise an alert for that child.
ALERT: In the terrrible event that your child disappears, you post an alert on the website and provide the LEAC to your local law enforcement. They now have instant access to all those answers that they would collect in an interview. A missing child alert for your child is featured on our home page and through that box, visitors can see the child's picture and public description, and a full page Missing Child poster can be downloaded and printed. Because the information is online, the posters are also instantly available in some other city where you think the child might have been taken.
RECOVERY: Obviously, we hope and pray that this all leads to the recovery of your child. Because time to start a search is greatly reduced, the chances of that are much better for Child Guardians members.
